Yoga and Pilates Instructor Claire

Yoga & Pilates Instructor

Claire specialises in contemporary dynamic reformer pilates, alignment based hatha, vinyasa, and yin yoga.

Having studied classical reformer pilates with Stott at the YMCA as well as studying contemporary reformer concepts with companies such as Virgin, Karve and Tri-yoga her classes combine the principles of pilates alongside group fitness inspired elements. Pilates is for everyone and everybody, therefore there are options throughout her classes to cater for every level and ability. As a graduate of the Royal College of Art, Claire’s classes reflect her love of creativity through imaginative themes, sequenced choreography, and inspiring soundtracks.

Claire has always been inspired by sport, practising gymnastics as a child, cross country running and as a 100 meter sprinter for her school as a teenager. Whilst training with Highgate Harriers in Hampstead her coach suggested she went to group exercises classes to improve her strength. Since that time she has studied many types of exercise classes such as body conditioning, body balance, attack, pump, aerobics, step, barre and dance. However it was pilates and yoga that inspired her the most by involving the mind and body in conscious controlled movements helping to improve strength, stability, balance, flexibility and core strength. Claire started her pilates studies in 2010 with future-fit and teaching mat pilates for Virgin Active. In 2018 she trained with Virgin Active in dynamic reformer pilates and 2022 studingying reformer with Stott. She currently works for Tri-yoga as a lead for reformer pilates, training, recruiting and assessing.

Claire's love of pilates combines also with her passion for yoga. Claire attended her first yoga class at a Bikram studio in the early 1990's and loved the alignment based, focused control and physicality of the class. Whilst studying art at the Chelsea College of Art she then became interested in eastern philosophy and shamanism. In 2016 Claire decided to study Hatha Vinyasa in Mysore, India at the Mystic school with Noah McKenna. She has since studied Yin Yoga with Norman Blair, Vinyasa with Alessandra Peccorella and has done many workshops  with Jason Crandel.

Claire has since led yoga and pilates retreats since 2018. She enjoys leading retreats to share her passion for movement and exercise and its healing properties. But also as a way for people to connect, make friends, take time out for themselves, and most importantly to relax and be happy.
